Hello, everyone! I'm Shawna, a 39 year old Navy veteran and mama of a four year old special needs daughter named Gaia. My daughter cannot walk yet, and has profound hypotonia, so she struggles with fatigue as she exerts herself physically. But I love to run, so I take her along with me, and I stroll her in her Bob stroller. The Special Olympics is something special to me and to my family because the organization ensures representation of those who have diffeeent abilities. The organization also encourages a healthy and active lifestyle, another very important part for a high-quality life!
